What I can see, and what I can’t.
You’re about to give a stranger access to the software your business runs on. You should be careful about that, so here’s how I handle it.
I never ask for your master password
I use the proper access your software already offers. That means a limited account or an API connection, scoped to only what I need, that you can switch off yourself at any moment without calling me.
You see the scope before you grant it
Before you give me anything, I’ll show you exactly what I’ll be able to see and do. If you want it narrower, we make it narrower.
Your customer data stays in your systems
I don’t copy your customer list anywhere, and I don’t use your data for anything except the work you hired me for.
It runs in your accounts, in your name
Everything I build sits on software you own and pay for. If you and I part ways, none of it switches off and you keep the written documentation.
